Richard Holt is an artist and writer living on the Mornington Peninsula. His visual practice focuses on remnant forest landscapes of the sort that wrap around and enclose those who venture into them. Most of his work is created in the field, and features rapid, and responsive mark making. Using paint-marker on paper his drawings attempt to capture the sensory experience of being in these lush and complex environments, as much as they depict those environments themselves. In some of the drawings the intensity of his chosen natural places is enhanced through the application of watery acrylics in a heightened colour palette.

A product of Melbourne's artist-run sector, Richard was a cofounder and coordinator of Platform, and the zine store, Sticky. He has exhibited in art spaces including Gertrude St, WestSpace, CCP, and ParaSite (Hong Kong), and created numerous public space interventions exploring the landscape and our place in it.
