Things to know

The & Sorrento Art Prize is open to artists at all stages of their careers and across all mediums.

Eligible artworks created and exhibited within the last 5 years - no earlier than 28 June 2020

All scale of art work considered however no larger than 2.5 H x 2 W x 2 D mt.

Artist must apply via the this page as per How To Enter.

Up to 60 artists will be shortlisted for the prize.

The shortlisted works will be exhibited at & Gallery Australia in Sorrento, located on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, in a comprehensive eight-week showcase from 28 June - 31 August 2025.

The exhibition will launch with an opening gala event on 28 June 2025.

The exhibition will be enriched with a series of artist talks, forums, and events over the exhibition period.

Curator: Julie Collins - Artist, Independent Curator and Director of & Gallery.

Judge: Smooth Nzewi Artist & Curator of painting & sculpture at MoMA - Museum of Modern Arty - New York. (Blind judging, no artist names and CV’s)

Submissions Close: January 31st 2025 Early applications encouraged.

Artists Notified: February 15th 2025

Opening Event: 28 June 2025

Exhibition: 28 June - 31 August 2025.

All artworks must be available for sale, with & Gallery taking 40% commission - & Gallery will commission split for artists solely represented by a another commercial gallery.

All commercial galleries will be acknowledge in catalogue and in exhibition signage.

The main prize of $125,000 is acquisitive.

$5,000 cash and a solo exhibition at & Gallery People Choice Award.

Cellar Connections Prize. Wine package and opportunity to design 3 different wine labels and receive 1% of sales for each bottle of wine ongoing.

Artists may submit more that one work for consideration, however a seperate application form, PDF must be submitted and the entry fee paid.

How to Enter:

Upload One PDF Document with the following:

  • Cover Page with Artist name, address, mobile, email & artwork title.

  • Images of existing artwork to be considered with 3 previous works.

  • Or if proposing a new work not completed, include details of the art work, with up to 3 previous art work examples.

  • Video work or sound proposals can be uploaded additionally to a PDF. This is only for a video or sound work being submitted as the an entry.

  • 150 max word Artist Statement. - this will be used as exhibition text and viewed by the Judge.

  • CV and/or Bio

  • Payment proof of $50.00 application fee ( scanned or photographed receipt added to PDF)
